Our school has set up a Student Support Team to cater for learner’s diversity and promote mutual respect of individuals’ differences among students and cultivate an inclusive school culture. The team conducts early identification and early intervention for students with special needs and encourages teachers to adopt different teaching approaches to meet the diverse student needs in regular classrooms. In addition, we adopt various accommodation measures to facilitate the student development such as personal coaching and tutorials, various training courses e.g. phonic, social and communication skills, executive functioning, study skills etc., on-site speech therapy, on-site consultation of educational psychologist and clinical psychologist, social adaptation activities, special examination and homework arrangement, and special promotion criteria and even individual educational plan if necessary. For the facilities, we have MAC computer to provide speech-to-text and text-to-speech services to assist students with specific learning difficulties. We also offer mental health talks and activities to all students that help them build up healthier minds and provide them the ways to help the others. In order to equip our teachers to cater for learners’ diversity, our school arranges professional BAT training courses to our teachers and our school has attained most of the requirement. In the meanwhile, understanding and catering for learners’ diversity workshops are offered regularly in teacher development days.
