This is one of the common question patterns in Putonghua. 

If you want to ask somebody what subject he likes, you may say:

 “nǐ xǐ huɑn shén me kē? 你喜歡什麽科?”

If you want to ask somebody what countries he likes, you may say:

 "nǐ xǐ huɑn shén me guó jiɑ̄？你喜歡什麽國家？"
