The pronunciation of some Chinese words is borrowed directly from the English pronunciation. These words are called loan words.

For example, 巴士(bus) and 的士 (Taxi). The pronunciation of bɑ̄ shì is just like the pronunciation of 
“bus” in English. The pronunciation of dī shì is just like the pronunciation of “taxi” in English.

Other examples: guitar, hamburger, sandwich, sofa, coffee and toast. Do you know the Chinese character of these loan words? If difficult, you may also use some phonetic symbols to replace some characters.
