There is no classifier in English. However, different objects need different classifiers to classify in Chinese. 

If you use the classifier wrongly, the term does not make sense.

As mentioned in Unit 1, there is no singular and plural form of the noun. A classifier is 

unchanged and we only have to change the number to mean plural. For example, 

a car 一輛車  “jat1 loeng6 (gaa3) ce1”, three cars 三輛車 “saam1 loeng6 (gaa3) ce1”.
