In Chinese, we use the Chinese character
“gaap3” (甲)、
“ jyut6” (乙) 、
“bing2” (丙)
、
“ ding1” (丁) to represent sequence, group and grade.
- For sequencing purpose, we use “gaap3” (甲) (A) to represent the best and “ ding1” (丁) (D) to represent the worst. For grouping purpose, we can also use“gaap3” (甲)、“ jyut6” (乙)、“bing2” (丙)
、“ ding1” (丁). However, there is no difference among different groups because these words are only used to group people.
- For example, our school gives a name for each class as the followings: 1A = 一甲; 1B = 一乙; 1C = 一丙; 1D = 一丁. For grading purpose, the Chinese teacher will use 甲、乙、丙、丁 to grade students’ work. If you get 甲 in your assignment, that means you have done an excellent job. If you get 丁 in your assignment, that means you need to work very hard.
