It is much easier to use the “if” sentence pattern in Chinese. In English, there are three types of conditional sentences and they are complicated. To talk about possibility in Chinese, the sentence pattern “如果……,就……” can be used. |
Example: 如果你的證件有問題,(你)就要到入境事務處再辦理。rú guǒ nǐ de zhèng jiɑ̀n yǒu wèn tí,(nǐ)jiù yɑ̀o dɑ̀o rù jìng shì wù chǔ zɑ̀i bɑ̀n lǐ. If there is any problem for your traveling document, you need to go to the Immigration Department to fix it. |

e.g. From the above example, a subject “你” is added in front of the word “就” because this will help to emphasize your feeling.
