When you want to mention something that is unique or special, you may use the adverb “only” to bring out the point. 
The word “ only” in Chinese is 只是(zhǐ shì). The usage of the adverb  “only” is the same in Chinese and English.

Example: 農曆新年也許和印度新年有點兒像，只是習俗不同。

          nóng lì xīn niɑ́n yě xǔ hé yìn dù xīn niɑ́n yǒu diɑ̌nr xiɑ̀ng，zhǐ shì xí sú bù  tóng.

           Chinese New Year may be similar to Diwali, but only the customs are different.
